Yvette Barber

In her own words.

All art has always been a love of mine. Artwork, theatre, music and  dancing. However artwork seemed to be the missing piece. As I enjoyed my time in the theater and playing the piano. It wasn't until September of 2021, when my wife suggested I paint. My initial response was, "I can't even draw a stick figure".  She was traveling quite a bit and wanted to ensure my mind was occupied with us missing each other and feeling a little lonely. Then to my surprise and her intuition...  I got home from work to a stack of canvases, paint brushes and paints with her saying, "just paint" and that's just what I did.

I attempted several genres and mediums. In the end, Abstract Art is what fulfilled my soul. I found myself waking each morning with feelings and ideas. Everything inside me had to get on a canvas. Without reference or images or a muse. It is instinctual, it is unpredictable, it is a journey...…and I love every single bit of it!

Each piece is a part of me and the world as I know it to be or was.

Thank you visiting and I hope you come along this journey with me as I find my way through painting.
